ai's future role in the modern workforce
THE FUTURE OF ROBOTICS AND THE MODERN WORKFORCE:
From our past experiences with technology, it is apparent that as technology grows and innovates, the work force adapts along side it; this is the prediction for the future. The world is still in early stages of researching and developing robots to be implemented in the workforce. However, with the advancement of robots/AI, it will free employees from tedious forms of work, enabling humans to engage in higher class positions that improve efficiency in an organization (Tamny, 2015).
As a result, there will be a shift in the dynamics within the workforce, but it will not necessarily be job replacement, but a transformation towards better, higher class jobs. There will be a new demand for programmers and developers, “someone will have to code and build the new tools, which will also likely lead to a new wave of innovations and jobs” (Kende, 2014).
Jobs are expected to increase in engineering, science, technology and robotics (Khan, 2016). More specifically, we can expect a flourish in automotive and robotics technology.
Despite the decline in certain aspects of the job market, there will significant growth in these higher developed positions. A study of six influential companies found that 5/6 said companies noticed a decrease in their levels of unemployment as they increased the use of robotics (Khan, 2016). It is impossible to predict the exact future, however, with past experiences of new innovative technology there has always been an upside in the creation of new positions within the workforce that increase overall productivity.
